Andrés Montoya Poetry Prize for the New Oeste Series

The Andrés Montoya Poetry Prize supports the publication of a first full-length book of poems by a Latinx poet residing in the United States.

The prize opens on November 1, 2023 and closes on February 16, 2024. There is no entry fee.

The winner will receive $1000 from the Huizache Literary Institute and a contract from the University of Nevada Press as part of the New Oeste Series.

Subsequent recipients of the Andrés Montoya Poetry Prize will be integral to the New Oeste series at the University of Nevada Press. Under the guidance of founding series editors León Salvatierra and Daniel A. Olivas, the New Oeste celebrates the diverse creative expression of Latinx writers in the American West by supporting projects from unique voices that invite connection and inclusion.
